2022 Non-Profit Infrastructure Grant Program Advocacy
Communities Lead, Communities Thrive
2022 Proposed Grant Program
With the support of over 50 organizations from across Colorado, the Communities Lead Communities Thrive (CLCT) coalition successfully led advocacy on House Bill 22-1326 during the 2022 legislative session. The bill appropriated $35 million of federal ARPA dollars to create the Non-Profit Infrastructure (NPI) fund for nonprofits. Money from this fund provided infrastructure grants to smaller nonprofits that provide services and resources to families and communities who have historically been underrepresented, underfunded, under-resourced, and struggled with pandemic recovery.
These nonprofit organizations had to pivot to serve the increasing needs of their communities as a response to the COVID-19 pandemic, including new services, transitioning services online, collecting new data for impact and outcomes, retraining and repurposing staff, and shifting and expanding their organizational focus.
Regional Access Partners (RAPs) awarded the grants before December 30, 2024. Recipients of the grants are required to expend all grant money by December 30, 2026.
The Nonprofit Infrastructure Grant Program funding opportunity was open to organizations that could pursue innovation and build institutional resilience. Funding was focused on infrastructure and capacity building of nonprofits that focus on programming for and have board representation from defined historically marginalized and under-resourced communities.
